Our next meeting in Thursday April 3rd, 6:30pm at the Rollo Centre, where our presenter will be Norm Wagenaar. The topic is Pollinator and Native Plants in the Garden: Ecological Approaches.
Norm has owned and operated Naturescape West Coast Gardens in Nanaimo since 2011, emphasizing pollinator-friendly, reduced maintenance approaches to gardening and property care. These approaches, why they're important, and how they differ from mainstream commercial horticulture, will be the focus of his presentation.
Norm is also the author of the gardening book, Bare Dirt: The Mindful Gardener, published in 2023. He has a degree in environmental studies from Trent University in Ontario and has worked for environmental organizations in Ontario and on Vancouver Island. He is a volunteer on the board of the Nanaimo & Area Land Trust since 2018 and has spent two decades working as a community newspaper reporter and editor in Ontario.
