November 3, 2022 Meeting

 Our next meeting is Thursday November 3, 2022.  Our speaker is Don Buskirk, who will be talking about ponds and water gardening.  He has plenty of images to share with us.

 The meeting is held at the Rollo Centre, 685 North Road - doors open at 6:30pm and meeting begins at 7pm.

Book of the Month

The book of the month for October was Bromeliads for the Contemporary Garden by Andrew Steens.  The book covers how to landscape with bromeliads; has an a- z list of genera; notes the cultivation requirements, and how to propagate the plants.

Karen Olivier was our guest speaker.  Karen is a Master Gardener living in Ladysmith who knows everything about TOMATOES.  I never knew there was so much to learn.  She has a website where she sells seeds and provides a great deal of information about tomatoes, tomatoes bred for the Northwest.

Book of the Month

Tulips For North American Gardens, by Brent and Becky Heath.

 

 It is that time of year to be thinking about bulbs to plant next month.  This book on tulips covers such topics as: Tulip species and wild forms; the tulip industry; tulip anatomy; tulip culture such as when and where to plant, soil amendments, watering, mulching, etc.  It also discusses companion planting, hybridizing, and flower arranging.  The book was donated to the library.
